A Reply to Mother (Undated)

A family letter written with a controlled tone and neat penmanship, hiding unspoken fragility between the lines.

To my dearest Mom,
I must tell you about a rather unpleasant experience I had (but don't worry, I'm all right now).
Recently, we were sent on a mission to a place called the Slumberdream Valley. The fog is thick there, and it's easy to lose your bearings. The strangest thing is... when you fall asleep there, your dreams feel exceptionally real.
I dreamed I was back home, but the house was empty. Only the bowls on the dining table were still steaming. I knew it wasn't real, but in the dream, I was desperately searching for you and Anna. I was still shaking when I woke up.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm really cut out for this kind of adventuring.

I'm actually much better now. I just wanted you to know that I haven't forgotten home, and I haven't forgotten your lamb and tomato stew.

Your son,
Federico, who is always trying to grow
