The Creed and the Artisans' High-Stakes Game
In exchange for the data on the Vision-Sharing Society that the Creed was interested in, the artisans put forward three demands: First, immediately release their confiscated equipment. Second, seal all investigation reports regarding the matter at hand. Third, overlook the contraband incident.
The priests agreed to the first two points almost without hesitation. However, on the third point, they made no direct promise, only coldly reminding the artisans to "use less of that stuff," their given reason being that "that stuff has been changing lately..."
This last statement piqued the artisan team leader's interest. Just as he was about to ask further, the Creed chose to up the ante, demanding that the artisans hand over even more compelling intelligence.
Apparently, the artisans were equally invested in what the Creed meant by"that stuff has been changing lately", as their leader almost immediately played his trump card:
"That stuff isn't some sort of signaling device like you think. It—"
The conversation ended abruptly there, as the leader of the artisans and the Creed entered a different room alone for a secret discussion... Only the two of them know what happened after that.
