Considering the requests sent by other merchants, the internal tensions in the Gloomy Depths merchant organizations likely run deep.
Gaston, another leader among the merchants, recently discovered irregularities in the accounts. He suspects his subordinate, Konrad, has embezzled a batch of goods. However, lacking solid evidence, he cannot confront him directly. So he asked you to disguise yourself as a buyer and approach Konrad to purchase goods, to test whether Konrad is withholding goods and selling them privately.

The meeting went smoothly, and you quickly located Konrad. The plan was simple: wait for him to take out the goods and catch him red-handed.

But things didn't go as expected. Konrad appeared to be in a trance, and the ones actually managing the business were his subordinates. When the so-called goods were brought out, the truth of their trade became clear.
They had been secretly dealing in the Class II contraband "Crimson Marrow". Intel suggests its hallucinogenic effects have exponentially increased recently, for unknown reasons... which may explain Konrad's impaired state.
After some resistance, you manage to bring Konrad before Gaston. However, the confused Konrad accused Gaston, saying he chose to collaborate despite knowing the other party's true nature. Konrad also stated that this was a path to the abyss.

This matter is very likely related to the collaboration Sabine mentioned, and it is clearly still escalating.
