The Truth Is There
After the turmoil in the Artisan Camp gradually subsided, the Creed priest's trust in me seemed to grow. He approached with an off-the-books commission: he needed me to borrow a pair of Legacy-modified goggles currently being debugged by a member of the Vision-Sharing Society.
This Vision-Sharing Society member, Ingrid, claimed to be part of the Society's Reserve Team, not the Prism Team I usually dealt with. She repeatedly emphasized that no remote communication with anyone else would occur as I wore the goggles; I only needed to put them on, walk to an area as prompted, and gather different perspectives.
However, after I handed the goggles over to the priest for inspection, everything changed.
Juster first denied that these goggles possessed any remote call capabilities at all, and that the prompts I'd heard had actually been some form of remote suggestion. Then, he tested the goggles with a special sort of crystal. When the crystal lit up as it reached a narrow point in the goggles, he proclaimed that a Crimson Marrow medium had been discovered.
The priest, Juster, was clearly not yet satisfied.
Afterward, he used the crystal to interfere with how the goggles operated, triggering a series of bizarre phenomena that completely changed my opinion of why the Vision-Sharing Society had appeared... but the priest never gave me a straight answer on any of it.
Perhaps the answer lies right there, beyond the white paint.
