Circumstances and Experiences
Wax Seal Anomaly
Edred, one of the three merchant leaders, recently issued a request stating that a batch of goods required a special procedure. He asked you to check if the wax seals on the goods were intact before delivery.
He also dispatched a Merchant Guild member, Celine, to accompany you. Supposedly it was to show the way, but it felt more like blatant surveillance.
The first wax seal was intact, but the second one had been broken. When the box was opened, you discovered that the goods inside were actually Golems—a mechanical Legacy long classified as Class I contraband. Such devices are considered extremely dangerous because they can automatically activate under unknown conditions.
Lo and behold, during the transport process, the Golem was stimulated by external forces and began an emergency activation. It was on the verge of going berserk and hurting people.
In the nick of time, Celine intervened and used a special method to suppress the Golem. The legacy seemed to be manufactured by the Creed... Although she wouldn't answer when asked about her relationship with the Creed, you deduced that she was likely hired as a Creed operative and planted among the merchants.
She revealed that the merchant organizations in Gloomy Depths sell daily necessities on the surface, but secretly trade in all kinds of contraband—Golems, Crimson Marrow, and even various illicit Legacies... The Creed had long been aware of this underground trade network but consistently lacked sufficient evidence. She had blown her cover because if the Golem went berserk, the entire operation could be exposed.
Before leaving, Celine also warned you that Edred never truly trusted you. Sending you out to take on this task was probably just to stop Sabine's probing. If anything went wrong with the goods, he was likely already prepared to shift the blame onto you.
She left one final, meaningful remark: Edred's deal with the Cabbage Mission is far more complex than it appears on the surface.
